Ukraine has increased the capacity of renewable electricity by 709 MW

During the first half of 2021, the total capacity of renewable electricity facilities increased by 8.3% or 709 MW. About 530 million euros have been invested in the installation of 709 MW of renewable electricity capacity.

During six months in Ukraine there were introdused: 

  • wind power plants with a capacity of 278.4 MW and solar power plants with a capacity of 257.4 MW;
  • as well as 156 MW of domestic SPP, 10.4 MW of biomass power plants;
  • 6 MW of biogas power plants;
  • 1.6 MW of small hydropower facilities.

In general, as of the end of the first half of 2021, 9225 MW of renewable electricity capacity was introduced in Ukraine, namely:

  • solar power plants with a capacity of 6,351 MW;
  • wind power plants with a capacity of 1,593 MW;
  • home SPP with a capacity of 933 MW;
  • 119 MW of solid biofuel capacity;
  • 118 MW of small hydropower;
  • 111 MW of biogas plants.

Capacities of "green" electricity were introduced by years: in 2015 - 32 MW; in 2016 - 136 MW; in 2017 - 291 MW; in 2018 - 848 MW; in 2019 - 4,669 MW; in 2020 - 1,574 MW; in the first half of 2021 - 709 MW.
